Formerly trading as Classic Oils, Motor Spirit is the same company in the same location but with a name that more accurately reflects the company we are. We still stock all the products we did before, and we still offer the same advice and expertise, all from our HQ – the Lubricants Store at Bicester Heritage.
Our rebrand stemmed from our need to more accurately reflect the business we do. While we still supply lubricants and additives for vintage and classic cars, we have more and more people racing our Gulf race fuels. So we thought a change was necessary to better encapsulate our new customers.
The term motor spirit is an antiquated term for petrol and was used in the UK up until the 1930s. But we also want a name that reflects a community – all of us sharing in this Motoring Spirit.

Bicester Heritage
Motor Spirit, originally Classic Oils, has grown in stature and reputation across the country. From a small unit in an industrial estate the company has become an industry trusted and much beloved one-stop-shop for anything liquid or semi-liquid for interesting machines.
Motor Spirit was one of the first to move into Bicester Heritage in the summer of 2015, an ex-RAF site which is now the country’s Centre of Excellence for classic motoring and aviation.
We launched our first own label product ‘Heritage 20w50’ the same year to celebrate our presence at Bicester and are delighted to continue to make and sell this product.
Partnering with Fuzz
n 2018, Classic Oils announced a strategic partnership with Car SOS’s Fuzz Townshend, which included rebranding the company to incorporate his name and image into the logo. Fuzz is still very involved in the company to this day and can easily be found admiring our display vehicles at Scrambles and is on hand to offer his mechanical advice and wisdom, or just say hi.
The same year the company acquired fuel additive manufacturer Tetraboost. Since then, Tetraboost has launched new products including a range of one shot bottles aimed at making modern petrol safer for vintage and veteran machinery.
